The Kamakura sharpening process produces a hook point which is every bit as good as a hand-sharpened hook, but without you having to go to all the time and effort involved in doing it yourself. The Kamakura Wide Gape is a version of this classic pattern, but with a much sharper, finer point – it is likely that you will need to change your hook after every fish you catch, due to the points being so delicate. It features a slightly in-turned eye, with a short shank, heavily forged bend, and a beaked point. It can be used with a wide variety of different pop-up and bottom bait presentations, and once it goes in it tends to stay in.The points are protected by a blob of wax which needs to be carefully removed before use, and they come supplied in a box which holds each individual hook securely in place – you get ten hooks in each box. Barbed and barbless versions are available in size 4, 6, or 8.
Korda Longshank X Hook
Korda Longshank X Hook
This hook was based on the popular, original fly hook patterns, which found favour with carp anglers due to their shape and hooking ability – but this is a much stronger and sharper version of that pattern. This pattern is one of the original styles of hook in carp fishing, but is still just as effective today with modern rigs, thanks to a 20 degree in-turned eye, long shank and straight point, which ensures that it flips over and takes a hold very easily, ensuring consistently good hookholds. The Longshank X is also very strong and can stand up to being used on snaggy and weedy waters, thanks to the forging on the bend and the gauge of wire used. Available in a pack of ten hooks in sizes 8, 6, 4
Korda Kurv Shank X Hook
Korda Kurv Shank X Hook
The Kurv Shank is a very versatile hook and can be used with both pop-up and bottom bait rigs, including popular presentations such as the KD and IQ D-rig. It has great hooking properties thanks to an aggressively in-turned eye and curved shank, which helps it to flip round and take a hold inside the mouth, even when using it without Shrink Tube or a Kicker.
Hooking potential is also aided by its long, needle sharp point. This popular pattern is now available in a Kurv Shank X version, and is perfect for when you want something stronger than the standard hook, but don’t need a hook as heavy and thick-wired as the XX model. The Kurv Shank X comes in sizes 2, 4, 6 and 8, supplied in packs
Korda Klor Hook
Korda Klor Hook
The Klor hook pattern was designed and created by Danny Fairbrass to be an aggressive, strong, fast turning hook with brilliant hooking potential with a variety of rigs. It is incredibly strong and proven to be able to withstand fishing for big carp in extreme conditions, both at home and abroad.
The Klor has a very aggressive shape (even more so than our Kurv Shank hook), with the point in line with the eye, and this encourages it to turn quickly and take hold in the mouth of a carp. It is suitable for use with all manner of rigs, including the Combi Rig and Spinner Rig presentations, and with bottom baits, pop-ups and wafters.
The point is long, ultra-sharp and slightly in-turned which makes it far less likely to be damaged by nuisance species, such as crayfish and small fish, moving it around on the bottom, especially when fishing over gravel.
The wire is a heavy gauge, and this results in a very strong hook which can be used in weedy or snaggy conditions, even when using braid, without fear of it bending out. During testing Danny landed carp to over 60lb from wild, French waters that were full of snags. Despite the thickness of the wire, the point remains very sharp and the whisker barb, once the hook goes in, will ensure it stays in place.
Sizes: 2, 4, 6 and 8
Korda Mixa Hook
Korda Mixa Hook
This hook has been specifically designed for floater fishing, exhibiting great hooking potential as well as being as unobtrusive as possible when targeting wary carp. The Mixa has a very short shank and a wide gape, and can be used either with baits, such as cork balls, fished directly on the back of the shank, or with a hair rig. It is still a strong hook and has been used to land some very big carp, and the beaked point is razor sharp. It comes in both barbed and barbless versions, in a choice of size 6, 8, 10, with ten hooks in a pack.
Korda Wide Gape
Korda Wide Gape
This is a really classic pattern of hook and the Wide Gape has accounted for a huge number of big carp captures over the many years since it was first launched. It is based on an old classic spade end hook pattern from the 1980s and 1990s which found favour with many anglers at the time – the Maruta Kinryu – but we have improved it and made it more user-friendly by switching the spade for an eye.
The Wide Gape features a slightly in-turned eye, with a short shank, heavily forged bend, and very sharp, beaked point. It can be used with a wide variety of different pop-up and bottom bait presentations, and once it goes in it tends to stay in.
Wide Gape coming in sizes 10, 8, 6, 4
Korda Krank Hook
Korda Krank Hook
This pattern has been a huge seller since Tom Dove first came up with it back in 2014, and has accounted for countless big fish both at home and abroad, and even some monsters of other species well in excess of 100lb, in Thailand. The unique shape features a very wide gape, with quite a short, curved shank into a slightly in-turned eye – the in-turned effect is accentuated by the shape of the shank and the way it sweeps round to the eye. The point, which is slightly beaked, is offset and this shape helps it to ‘Krank’ its way in once it takes an initial hold. These hooks are very strong, and feature a micro barb which won’t hinder penetration, but once in, will ensure that the hook stays in place. A barbless version is also available. The Krank can be used with a wide variety of different rigs and is incredibly effective even with a simple knotless knot, or it can be used on more complicated set-ups, such as the Spinner Rig which
Each packet contains ten hooks, in barbed or barbless, with a choice of sizes: 4, 6, 8, and 10,
Korda Choddy Hook
Korda Choddy Hook
This hook has been specifically designed for use with stiff hook links and rig presentations such as the chod rig or hinged stiff rig, but it can also be used with other pop-up presentations as well. It has an out-turned eye, to help give a continuous curve from the hook link to the hook when using stiff presentations, and the rest of its shape is based upon the iconic Wide Gape pattern, albeit in a slightly thicker wire. It is an incredibly strong hook, as Darrell Peck will attest to, having caught carp to over 70lb on the size 8 version. The slightly curved point is very sharp, and the barb is of a size that doesn’t hinder penetration, but once in, helps the hook stay securely in place. The Choddy comes in barbed and barbless versions, in a choice of size10, 8, 6 or 4, with ten hooks in each pack.
Korda Kurv Shank Hook
Korda Kurv Shank Hook
The Kurv Shank is a very versatile hook and can be used with both pop-up and bottom bait rigs, including popular presentations such as the KD and IQ D-rig. It has great hooking properties thanks to an aggressively in-turned eye and curved shank, which helps it to flip round and take a hold inside the mouth, even when using it without Shrink Tube or a Kicker. Hooking potential is also aided by its long, needle sharp point. It also comes in a barbless version. For those fishing in extreme angling situations, especially elsewhere in Europe, a Kurv Shank XX is available, which shares the same shape and properties, but on a much heavier gauge of wire. The Kurv Shank comes in sizes 12, 10, 8, 6, 4, 2, and 1; with the Kurv Shank B in sizes: 8, 6, 4, and 2; All come with ten in a packet.
A braided rig offers a slightly subtler presentation that will fool fish that may be suspicious of stiff hooklinks or are feeding by sifting through the sediment on the lake or river bed.
Supple hooklinks tend to concertina slightly as they settle onto the lake bed and therefore allow the hookbait to move unhindered when it is sucked up by a browsing fish.
- The well established Talon Tip hook is excellent for fishing any bottom bait over gravel as the in-turned point reduces the likelihood of the point being damaged before the fish picks up your bait.

- Always reliable and easy to use, our ready tied rigs are the convenient way to ensure ultimate presentation.

he Covert Dark Wide Gape Talon Tip is the latest incarnation in a long line of ‘Talon Tip’ beaked point hooks; with the latest version being given the full Covert Dark upgrade starting with the all important beaked point itself.
We have changed the shape and length of the Wide Gape Talon Tip’s point; so it is now a lovely sweeping curve that’s longer, slimmer and much sharper than before. These new longer points are a major improvement that ensures the hook pricks even quicker and penetrates easier.
Gardner Covert Dark Mugga Hook
Firstly, we have totally re-specified the shape and length of the Mugga’s point so they are longer and much sharper than before. The new long tapered points are a massive step up and ensure the hook pricks and penetrates even quicker.
Next, we have swapped over to the new stripped down Covert Dark plating. This new finish still offers excellent camouflage thanks to the matt finish, and also ensures that we keep the sharpest possible point on the hook as it is a single electroplated finish and the reduction in handling during the finishing process means the points remain immaculate and razor sharp
Gardner Point Doctor 2
Gardner Point Doctor 2
The Gardner Point Doctor 2 has an elevated abrasive content and slightly stiffer rubberised compound.
The Gardner Point Doctors are simple to use hook sharpeners that are perfect for keeping your hook points sticky sharp.
Just like the original Point Dr, the Point Doctor 2 is simple to use and perfect for keeping your hook points sticky sharp. A sharper point will prick, hook and penetrate faster and deeper and this will inevitably mean you hook and land more fish!
The Point Dr.2’s unique abrasive rubber compound (red) is still forgiving enough that you can easily avoid applying too much pressure to the point, turning it over and ruining the hook.
